This one is easy to prepare since you already have prepared your grill for the barbecue. If you do not have your grill on, you can roast the cob on your oven instead.
Your first option would be the classic corn on the cob. You can prepare it by brushing the corn with melted butter after grilling it. After that, season it with salt and pepper.
Second, you can try making it cheesy. To do this, you combine the seasonings in one bowl—parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, garlic powder and melted butter in a bowl. After that, I use my hands to spread the mixture over the corn. I, then, wrap it with aluminum foil and grill it for 10 minutes. I always go for this smoky parmesan corn on the cob recipe when I invite kids or teenagers over. They love it!
Third, you can also try my other favorite—grilled corn with lime butter. Lime + butter— that is always a winning combination, don’t you agree? The first thing that you need to do is to prepare the lime butter. You can do this by adding the lime zest, butter, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mixing them together. Transfer the resulting mixture into a plate. Spread queso fresco on another plate. After grilling the corn, roll it in the plate with lime butter then roll it again on the plate with the queso fresco and serve.
Grilled Potatoes with Chive Butter
These perfectly grilled potatoes are topped with delightful and creamy layers of sour cream butter and chives. What’s not to like about this side dish?
Prepare this dish by combining the salt, pepper, sour cream, butter, and chives in a bowl until you have achieved a smooth mixture. Transfer the resulting mixture to a plastic wrap then form it into a log. Place in the refrigerator for an hour.
Create crosswise slices in the potatoes. Make sure to allot an interval of 1/3-inch for each slice. Remove the butter from the refrigerator ad cut it into thin slices. Place the butter slice in the cuts you have made in the potatoes. Individually wrap the potatoes with aluminum foil.
Place the covered potatoes over low heat in the grill. Cook for 50 minutes. Remove from grill, unwrap it, then garnish with chopped chives. If you have sour cream at home, serve them together with the potatoes.
Another healthy side dish that will surely complete your hotdog meal is coleslaw. This one is perfect for the hot summer days because of its crisp and refreshing taste. Plus, it adds a pop of color to your barbecue table!
If you are in a hurry, you can just always buy a bag of cut cabbage in the grocery store and add dressing to it. But if you want your coleslaw to be memorable, it is still best that you cut the vegetables before you whip up the coleslaw so you can maintain its freshness.
For my coleslaw, I always use green and red cabbage and carrots. Shred all the vegetables. For the dressing, I whisk mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, and whole grain mustard together. I pour the resulting mixture over the shredded vegetables. Lightly toss to coat thoroughly. Place the coleslaw in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving them.
Grilled Glazed Asparagus
Asparagus is one of the most nutritious vegetables you can ever find in the market, but some people do not like its taste. Well, I have found a way to make this veggie a bit more palatable for consumers. In fact, even my daughter loves this recipe!
The first thing that you need to prepare is the sauce. You can do this by whisking together the oil, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, cumin, and paprika. Once everything is already properly mixed, place the asparagus slices on the bowl with the sauce and toss to coat it lightly. Place the asparagus on the grill with medium-high heat. Cook it for six minutes or until certain parts of the asparagus are already tender or have already blistered.
We all know that potato dishes would always go hand in hand with hotdogs and burgers. That is why I always make sure that we have French fries at the table when there are hotdogs and hamburgers around. But if you want to cut down on calories, you can always go for the lighter and healthier potato salad.
Mojito Fruit Salad
If you are looking for something refreshing, I highly recommend this recipe as it is a dessert and cocktail rolled into one! Don’t worry, though—this does not contain alcohol! It is just called as such because it tastes just like a mojito!
For this recipe, I use all types of berries and watermelon. Place all the fruit slices in a large bowl then add the mint leaves. In a separate bowl, I mix the lime juice and sugar. Pour the resulting mixture over the fruit slices and use a spatula to toss the fruits gently. Refrigerate it for 15 minutes and serve.
How successful your barbecue party will be lies not just on how delicious the main dishes are. It would also depend on the supporting actors—your main dishes. This is why you need to plan your menu carefully.
